Flipping an eyelash horizontally

So I'm trying to flip an eyelash by replicating it in a video I saw but I can't seem to get the same effect by uaing the scale method. All it does is make the eyelash small before expanding back into it's normal shape. (See the video and gif in the attachments) Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Turns out that when I use scale I had to only put "-" in front of the second number of the scale. I hope this helps anyone if they find this!!
