Font not changing but only for Russian characters

Hi everyone

I am copy pasting Russian text from Excel into AE

Now when I highlight the text it says the name of the font I want to use (Helvetica Bold), without looking like it is Helvetica. When I click into the text, next to a letter, Times New Roman appear in the character panel. (please see the gift/screen shot uploaded here)

 

- I already preset AE with Ctrl+Alt+Shift

- I copy paste it into note pad, to take away its formating (using a PC)

- I tested, and its definitly only when I copy the Russian letters, the english ones change font without a problem from the same excel file that I was given. 

 

Its been two hours I have been playing around, if someone could give me a hint, how to go around this,
I would really appreciate 🙂

Language settings are available in ther preferences and the text options in the character panel's flyout menu. in your case it might be a good idea to install a Russian version of AE via the CC app, then switch back to English. that way all the necessary options should be available. I'd also check the Excle prefs. Perhaps it's as trivial as forcing the program to convert the text to ASCII/ DOS or an alternate character encoding for copy & paste.

Have you tried other fonts? What are the language settings in AE and on the system? What text composer? What are the settings in Excel? Most definitely an issue with the encoding not set properly somewhere and AE struggling to convert the data...

I am quite new to all, I have few questions about where I can find the answers 

 

1. Yes I tried other fonts and they are not working either 

2. How can I see what are the language settings in AE and system? Where do I check that

3. What is a text composer? and how do I check that 

4. What should we look for in the excel settings?
