Footage Suddenly Turns Pink and Gets Distorted in After Effects

Hi, I’ve been learning After Effects and have been using it actively for the last two days. Today, my footage started to get corrupted on its own — I didn’t change any settings or do anything different. The videos suddenly turn pink and get distorted. Even the renders that looked fine yesterday now appear broken when I open them in After Effects. However, when I import the same files into CapCut, they play perfectly fine. I can’t figure out what’s causing this. Do you have any suggestions?

I noticed that this issue only occurs in scenes where I use the Roto Brush or apply effects. When I remove the effects and the Roto Brush, the problem disappears completely. What could be causing this? I already rolled back my GPU driver to an earlier version, but it didn’t make any difference.

Hi @ibrahimcan_5675

Can you install the latest version of After Effects and see if the issue persists?
Let us know. I am moving this thread from Bugs to Questions for now.

Thanks,
Nishu

Can't say for sure, but my guess is that the footage is shot using a codec that After Effects can't access.  The fact it was working and now not is problematic.  Again, guessing, but there might have been an update or just that today something didn't load correctly, but did yesterday.

Try converting the footage using VLC or Handbrake or Adobe Media Encoder (the last might not work off the same reason as AE).  This will replace the compression codec and should solve the problem.
