get the list of AI layers

Hello, I try to import in AE groups of layers separately as they are in AI, I still have only one layer despite all the tests. The AI is composed of a global layer and in it there are all the groups, and in each group of other layers. Do we have to take out the groups of the layer that covers everything? what are the parameters in AE to have the layers separated from the AI file? Thanks for your help!

Correct answer Rick Gerard

You only have one primary layer. You need to release all of the groups to layers. Maybe this tutorial will help. I show how to Release to Layers in Illustrator and then import the file as a composition.

You should also check out this thread. I posted an AEP and an AI file that was properly prepared for animating in After Effects.
