Ghosting/Outline Lag When Moving Objects – AE 2025 on RTX 4060 (Windows 11)

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a really annoying issue in After Effects 2025 (latest build) where moving a text layer causes ghosting or wireframe outlines to appear and lag behind. It happens every time I try to reposition a text layer, even in light comps.

System Info:

  • OS: Windows 11 Home
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060 (8 GB VRAM)
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • After Effects version: 25.3.1 (latest)

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Disabled Adaptive Resolution
  • Switched between CUDA, OpenCL, and Mercury Software Only
  • Disabled Hardware Accelerated Panels under Preferences > Display
  • Toggled Fast Preview and tried Final Quality mode
  • Disabled Motion Blur and Continuously Rasterize
  • Changed fonts and precomposed text layers
  • Disabled High DPI scaling override in Windows
  • Switched UI scaling to 100% and tested with external monitor

Even in a blank project with one text layer, the problem persists.

Thanks for creating the detailed post and sharing the screen recording. Try this: In Timeline, right click on the name of the Comp and enable Live Update. Check out the screenshot for reference.

Let me know if it helps. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.
