Question

GLBs for After Effects - Normal Map OpenGL or DirectX?

I've read that after effects prefers the OpenGL format for Normal Maps but it looks inverted on our tests, whereas the DirectX actually looks correct. We've checked it on multiple models, all with the same results, but everything I read contradicts this. Can someone confirm?

Hey @christopherk58957891,

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the question. I think we'd need someone from the product team to confirm that. I'll let them know.

Thanks,
Kevin

thanks Kevin - we did some further testing that may be useful to the product team
GLB - DirectX Normal maps work, openGL does not
in AE Beta - FBX OpenGL works, DirectX does not (flipped from GLB)
in AE Beta - FBX version, roughness may not be plugged in or is set to SRGB and not Linear, once we can extract materials we can confirm but currently don't see that option in beta.
in AE Beta - FBX transparency map seems inverted based on our expectations (we are excited about FBX compatibility!)
