I edit for the fun of it so i dont know much about after effects.  Could someone please help me with this issue?  i just want to edit the blue speed graph, not the x or y postions aswell. Thank you.

Using the graph editor to edit a motion path is not a good idea. When you are dealing with motion paths the graph editor is a lot more valuable for editing speed. Here's how you efficiently control both the speed and the position of an object in motion:

That is the exact technique I would use to animate Layer 2 in your comp. Just make sure Display All Keyframes is selected in your Preferences.
