Hello,

I am planning to purchase a new laptop,

CPU = i7-7700HQ

RAM = 32GB DDR4

GPU, GTX 1080 or Quadro M5000M

Windows 10 Pro

My question is,

which GPU would provide me with faster rendering? 1080 or M5000M

    The old laptop take a long time in rendering.

    its i7-Q 720 at 1.60 vs i7-7700 with 2.80 and 3.80 with turbo boost.

    8 GB RAM DDR3 at 1333 VS 32GB DDR4 at 2400.

    GTX 260M VS GTX 1080 or Quadro M4000M, or M5000M.

    I need a portable device that's why I went with the laptop.

    Your new machine is going to be about double the speed of your old one for many things. The processor speed being the thing that matters most for rendering in AE.

    Is there an option to put two SSD's in there? AE benefits from having its cache on a dedicated SSD and you definitely want your OS and software on an SSD too.

    And, again, don't bother with the Quadros.

    Neither, because most AE rendering still happens on the CPU. At this point, this is a non-question. It's totally irrelevant.

    Because my laptop is old, and I am going to purchase a new powerful laptop, I dont want to spend money in there is no performance improvments. I am not professional in Adobe and thats why I asked. my old laptop has 1st generation i7 With 4 cores. The new one would be 7th generation i7 with 4 cores but faster and DDR4 RAM. How much performance would I gain? Is it worth to upgrade?

    You need to ask yourself two questions:

    1 - What is the issue you are trying to resolve?   Is there an issue? If yes then ->

    2 - What would resolve the issue?

    If your old laptop is just merely slow but still usable then maybe there is no real issue. If it takes two days to render something then perhaps there is a problem.

    Another thought, if you are serious about AE, is a decent Desktop. You can buy far more horsepower in a desktop than you can in a laptop for similar money. Also desktops can be configured and reconfigured as needed.

    Remember, focus on "what is the issue you are trying to solve".
