Question

hebrew text problem

I am experiencing a problem in one of my After Effects projects when working with Hebrew text.

When I press Ctrl+T and try to click on the screen, the project suddenly jumps back to the beginning of the timeline, and there is no response from the text layer.

When I exit the project, I also receive the following warning:

  • Error reading the text layer, skipping the text layer

  • After Effects Warning: your project file is apparently damaged. (Skip section: 1)

  • Please save using a different name

I saved the project under a different name, but the issue still comes back.

I am working with After Effects 26 on a MacBook Max 3, so this does not seem to be a system performance issue.

Is there any way to fix this problem? I would appreciate your guidance.

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. A couple of questions:

    1. What font are you using for the Hebrew text?

    2. Did this start happening after a specific action (a font change, a recent update, an import from another project)?

    3. A screen recording of the issue would be helpful for us to understand it better.

In the meantime, try importing your project into a new blank project and see if that works any better.

Let me know what you find.

    Thanks,

    Nishu

I’m experiencing several issues in After Effects and would appreciate your help.

First, I’m unable to change fonts properly. When I select a text layer, it allows me to choose a different font, but the change does not actually apply or respond.

Second, when I type text, the view jumps to the beginning of the composition instead of staying where I’m working.

In general, I’ve also noticed problems when using Advanced 3D with Hebrew text. For example, if I create a text layer and apply a mask, then try to rotate the text 90 degrees, it does not respond or behave as expected.

Additionally, I received the following error messages:

    • “After Effects Error: Error reading the text layers… keeping the text layer 76.2.66…”

    • “Your project file is apparently damaged. (Skipped section 1) Please save using a different name.” (Error 26.0)

These issues seem to be affecting my workflow significantly, especially when working with Hebrew text.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Thanks for getting back and sharing the screen recording. I can see the issue where the playhead jumps to the beginning of the timeline. By looking at the screen recording, it seems like a project or font specific issue.

Can you check if you get the same issue in a new project? Try to test with the same fonts.  If it happens in the new project as well, try running After Effects in Safe Mode with third-party plug-ins disabled.

Did you try importing your project into a new project? That should help if the issue is project-specific.
