HELP! Can NOT get background changed on my composition

Let me start by saying I'm an ABSOLUTE novice with After Effects. I have a simple text composition with some movement. The composition background is set to "white". When I export it, the background is black. No matter what I do, it shows up as a black background! Can someone PLEASE help me? I'm losing my mind over here! I've also included the file if you so wish to look at it and try it.

Composition Background Color does not create solid pixels. It tints the Alpha channel edges (transparency). Only a few codecs (video formats) will render a transparent background as a solid color. If you want a white background, you have to put white pixels in the background. The easiest way to do that is to add a solid. I never change a comp's background color from black unless I need to render a production format shot with pre-multiplied color on the anti-aliased edges. Shots like that are not shared; they are used in other composites when you need to apply a tint to the edge of the transparency.

Any chance you are rendering with Alpha? If so, that would be normal. Most such CoDecs set the BG to be black. Render without Alpha. Otherwise add a white solid layer under the text to be sure.
