Question

Help needed with cache error because of rasterization

Hi everyone,

The After Effect Error: Cached Preview needs 2 or more frames to play back occurs in my project now and then. Now, I can remove the error, when I turn of the rasterization on all layers. But I need all of these layers (all Adobe Illustration files) to be vectorized, so I turn on the rasterization on every layer. When I do that, my composition won't render and gives this error. When I turn the rasterization option off, everything works as normal. I'll attach a screenshot of how it looks right now. Is anyone familiar with this issue and what could help me keep all layers rasterized and still be able to render? I've done this kind of projects before and back then it wasn't an issue. I've tried all the options that are possible to get rid of the after effects error as well, like emptying disk cache, looking at RAM numbers etc., but it definitely has to do with the rasterization option.

Looking forward to your ideas, thanks in advance!

Are you using an actual RAM preview or trying to play back in realtime. In the latter case it seems logical that this wouldn't work with so many layers. Otherwise more info is required liek actual comp settings, preview settings, system info and so on. From the usual GPU acceleration issues to a framerate mismatch with the preview this could be anything. Also check the AI files. Perhaps you are using a feature that causes some weird behavior with CR like a raster effect or pixel-based brush.

Hi Mylenium,

Thanks for your reply. It's not only the play back that doesn't work, when I try to render the whole project it just stops rendering when it arrives at the concerning composition. I'll attach a screenshot of the things you asked (is this what you mean with previewsettings or do need different info?)

I work on a HPZ mini G5 Workstation (x64-processor, i9-10900 CPU, 2.81 GHz 32 GB, NVIDIA Quadro T2000) on Windows 11 Pro.

I'll check the AI files as well. Maybe I haven't noticed that there are effects used.
