Help: Null Object Parent Layer Retroactively Changing Animation of Child Layers

Hello,

I have a couple layers animating from point X to point Y. As they are moving from X to Y, their parent null object is also moving/scaling and eventually the layers reach point Z through the null, after reaching Y. On the current composition I'm working from, when I assign my layers to the null, it's retroactively changing the child layers (i.e. they are no longer starting on point X, they are at point A, etc.), even when the Current Time Indicator object is slid to the end of the timeline.

So I am trying to figure out how to whip these layers to the null object without it moving them from their initial starting point, X. (Note, I do not want to make any changes to the intial starting and end points of my null object.)

I have made dozens of these animations from a template using the same process, and haven't run into this issue previously, but before I start from scratch and retry, does anyone know what might be causing this?

Please let me know if there are any project specs you might need to help me sort this out.

Thanks so much.

It affects whether offsets are compensated or not, which seems to be your problem.

The behavior has changed and can be controlled with the Shift key.

Thanks for the reply, Mylenium. Can you elaborate how the shift key should be applied?

Update: Sliding the Current Timeline Indicator to the beginning of the timeline and whipping the child layers to the parent null object addressed my issue, although I can't explain how it ended up the opposite of my other templates, in that regard.
