Help with PreComp Colour change

Hello wonderful people!

I am quite new to After Effects, I do have a basic understanding of how it works though.
I have ran into this problem and would love to know why this is happening and how I can go about fixing it.

I downloaded a template and am trying to change some things in it. I already changed the camera stuff to fit my liking, among other stuff, but I seem to have trouble with this simple color change.

So, as you can see in the picture that I have added, I am wanting to change the "Background" colours of the PreComp. Every time I change the colour, nothing happens and it just stays the same (Orange/red/blue).

Can someone help me to understand what is causing this.

Thanks 🙂

Well, your second screenshots clearly reveals that the color controls are linked to the "Settings" comp. Use that or simply disable/ delete the expressions. It might also not hurt to re-read the original instructions for the project. That might make it clear how it's actually set up.

Really imposiible to say. Your screenshot makes it in no way clear what you are actually tried to change and how it potentially could fail. At least there seem to be no expressions linking to global controls involved, but other than that there's really not much one could deduce here. That doesn't preclude that there could be some such thing going on, of course, so start by hitting UU or EE to reveal all changed properties or props with expressions, respectivley. Similarly, inspecting the project flow chart may reveal dependencies you are not aware off that override your changes.

Hey Mylenium, appreciate the reply.
I attached a Screenshot that shows how i tried to change the color.
So, on the left of the screen it shows the "Tritone" section. I clicked the "Highlights" section and tried to change the color to green, but after I click "Ok" it just goes back to it's original Orange colour. THen, when I open the color change box again, it shows that green is still selected.

I feel like you may be correct about the override part, I just have no idea how to change that lol

edit:

I posted this to the wrong forum and have no idea how to change topic/ edit my post, I can't see any options, so I do apologise for that.
