Horrible performance with Ryzen 2200G.

Guys I can't use adobe after effects with my current pc. My specs are

AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5Ghz
8GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT1030 2GB

it's terrible. It won't even render anything. AE keeps constantly crashing and is unable to do absolutely anything (even cannot save project properly). Keeps freezing after every few minutes. Previously I used Core i7 860 many years back and it worked like a charm. Are Ryzens really this horrible for editing stuff.

Morever I can't even do a basic color correction without AE freezing, lagging and eventually crashing.

Processor Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
Operating system Microsoft Windows 10 (64 bit) versions 1703 (Creators Update) and later
RAM

16 GB minimum (32 GB recommended)
GPU

2GB of GPU VRAM.

Adobe strongly recommends updating to NVIDIA driver 430.86 or later when using After Effects. Drivers prior to this have a known issue which can lead to a crash.

Long and short: You may need to spend some time to optimize your system's drivers and libraries. It may even be as trivial as finding an AMD-specific version of a DLL used by a driver. I'm pretty sure given the regularity of your crashes and the overall bad performance your device manager and event viewer have a lot to say about it....

Yes, your computer is a bit weak with this hardware. Adobe recommend 8GB RAM minimum, but it's not clear if they mean 8GB for AE, or 8GB for the system. Windows 10 alone can easiely eat up 4GB in idle.

 

What are you doing exactly?

How much RAM is assigned to AE?

 

Some further ideas:

- update drivers

- purge cache

- clear preferences

- uninstall Adobe, run the Adobe cleaner, make a fresh re-install

- make a freh re-install of the whole OS and start as clean as possible

 

Without any details, it's hard to tell but I put my finger on the RAM and I recommend to double it.
