How can I get spinning text - Like in Sherlock

Hello everyone! Hope that everyone is having a great day.

I have been watching Sherlock BBC on Netflix and I have been loving their transitions and how they get the viewer so engaged into the video. There was a part in one of the episodes where there was text and when Sherlock moved his hand passed the text the letters started to spin from one text to another. I did find on youtube a clip of this Sherlock - How Creative Transitions Improve Storytelling - YouTube go to time 3:14. I have been searching to see how I can do this as well and had no luck. Can anyone walk me through or maybe have a tutorial they know of that can help me? I am somewhat new to After Effects and trying to learn it as much as possible but having some trouble.

    Hi blando89,

    Thanks for reaching out. The question is quite intriguing. I checked for the answer and found a tutorial video. Have a look at it here: After Effects | How to Make Spinning Text Tutorial - YouTube

    The video walks us through spinning the text keeping y-axis stable. You can do the same by keeping the x-axis stable. I guess the video is self explanatory, Let me know if it helps.

      Ok I will check it out and test it. See if I can get it to work. Was hoping to see if I can get something close to what i saw. Thanks!

      Try the inbuilt text animation preset called "3D Random Spike Tumble"

        Thanks for sharing I will try this one out. It is different so I am not sure how I feel about it yet. I was looking to see the text in place then when i move an object passed it then it will spin. This one just randomly moves letters. I tried it out I might be able to make it work for now. Thanks again!
