I appreciate the people who helped, but I found a (honestly pretty bad) workaround. I used the effect's camera position to rotate the shatter effect the way I wanted it to look then used a fill effect to make the distortion white and applied a set matte on the desired clip. Ofc I can't see any depth this way but that's not really something I needed for that project so I simply reduced the extrusion depth to 0. I'm currently figuring out how to make the clip move as well since right now it's shattering yes but the original clip still isn't moving. Probably something I can do with a displacement map. If anyone has a more efficient/flexible way of doing this any help is still appreciated.
