Question

How do you see manufacturer info for missing plugins?

Hi There,

Title says it all. Yes, we search but plugins often have  generic names (like 'looks') which bring up multiple plugins in search results. Also, the function 'Find missing effects' searches the effects window but there's no plugin info we can see.

Is there an easy way to see who makes a missing plugin before paying for the wrong one?

Cheers

When you open the project for the first AE must give you and popup message and tell you that you have a missing plugin called (name of the missing plugin) so did you get this message or not?

so if din't get any message that's mean you didn't have any missing plugin

Obviously he DOES get the message, otherwise he wouldn't be enquiring.  :-)

His issue is that neither the opening dialog or the Missing Effects function in the Project window report a manufacturer/developer name, just the name of the plugin itself.

But that's the way it is, After Effects doesn't store the developer info, to the best of my knowledge.

Not that I'm aware of, I don't think that kind of info is stored within a project file, just the name of the plugin.

Unfortunately just a matter of googling to find the creator/developer.

Looks plugin must be the red giant looks, you can find it here,

Buy Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks | Color Correction and Film Looks Plugin for Premiere Pro, After Effects, Apple FCPX, A…

and you don't need to pay anything you can simply test the trial version and see if this is the missing plugin you have.

Thanks for that but is there a way to see a developer name? 'Looks' was just an example.

    Cheers
