How Find Out Which Failed Essential Graphic Parameter

Opening someone else’s project I get “Could not create Essential Graphic parameter because it refers to a non-existent layer.”

→ How does one find out why Essential Graphics failed, what the layer(s) might have been?

Similar to when expressions break .. you can click the magnifying glass in the orange alert bar to go directly to the broken expression, or type “missing” in the search field to solo footage files that the After Effects project cannot locate.

Thanks,

    Hi Marc,

Thanks for the post. Sounds like a frustrating issue. I don't believe there's a direct way to track down the non-existent layer like you have with expressions. Sorry about that. Have you opened up the .mogrt and inspected the layers in the comp and pre-comps? Let the community know if you need help troubleshooting this issue further.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
