How I add atmosphere to my After Effects scenes — with a few After Effects effects
Hey everyone, how are you all doing?
Just wanted to share how I add atmosphere to my After Effects scenes — these are the effects I use on every project to make compositions feel more cinematic and alive:
CC Vignette — adds a soft vignette on the edges, guiding the viewer's eye to the center of the scene.
Deep Glow 2 — creates a controllable glow that adds depth and contrast to the elements.
QCA 3 — simulates real lens chromatic aberration, giving a subtle distortion and realism to the scene.
Spotlight — simulates real lighting, helping create depth and highlight specific elements.
Noise — adds a light grain that makes the scene feel more organic and textured.
Posterize Time — reduces the frame rate of your composition, great for an artistic look, stop-motion style, or vintage camera feel.
Textures — use textures of your choice to add more identity to the scene.
Color Grading — the final color grade is what ties everything together, defining the mood: warm and cozy, cold and mysterious, dark or vibrant.

Share yours too, I'd love to see how you set the mood in your scenes. Thank you!
