How to create a growing logo and vein effect

Question

Hey everyone!

I am quite new to animation, and i was just wondering if you could give me advice on how to do the below ( at 2.09)

How long do you think something like this would take a designer also. I'm very adept in photoshop and illustrator, but not so much in animation software like after effects.

Probably the easiest solution, if you are good at Illustrator, would be to create a blend between the starfing shape and the more complex and larger ending shape. You expand the blend, then release to layers, move the nested layers above the original layers, import as a comp, then sequence the layers.
