Hello all, I'm new here.

Can someone please advice me on how to make a size comparizon video? Is it possible with After Effects?

I'm talking about a video that compares the sizes of largest buildings for example. I have seen these kind of videos on youtube but not sure if I'm allowed to post links here as I'm new.

If someone can give me a link to a tutorial, it's much appriciated

Thanks for the reply Martin. However, I wonder how I can compare the sizes of objects. For that maybe I have to check the size ratio of two different objects and change the parameters in AE accordingly? Or is there an easier way?

If you want to compare a mile to a kilometer, for example, you say 1px = 1 Meter. Therefore, a mile is 1600px and a kilometer is 1000px. You can set a base and say, 1 mile is 1.6 of a kilometer. This can be transformed into 160% scale, if both object had the same scale initial.

You can also set up a slider with the value of 1.6 and use expressions to drive the object size or scale, accordingly to the factor you set up on the slider. So, a mile is the size of a kilometer multyplied with it's individual scale factor of 1.6.

The sun has the size of earth, multiplied with it's individual scale factor of 109. That's the math.

I would set up relative scales (object size is base * factor). Later it's easier to zoom everything or make it fit into the frame. You just have to alter the base, instead if of every object.

Here are two example of what I'm talking about. The second one could be made using flash I guess?

The first one I have no idea! 😕😕

Both videos are doable in AE pretty well.

For the first one, you have to create spinning globes and add a texture to them, and additional some effects like Saber.

I watched the second one only for a couple of seconds, but it looked like basic scale and rotation animation. For better handling, learn how to parent layers.

You should be able to post a link.  If not, use plain text for the link.
