How to create cracked screen with Shatter effect?

I want to create the cracked screen effect shown below. I like the way it looks in the screenshot, but the Shatter effect I’m using keeps evolving past it, despite my efforts to control it through keyframing. I only want it to happen at the end of the video.

Suggestions? Thanks.

I love shatter. It offered 3D long before other options. (And recently learned Brain Maffitt created it).

If you keyframe Force1’s Z position, you can leave it behind the plain until you want to bring it forward. And that way you can time your crack until the end of your video.

Hi keithm1972,

Thanks for writing in. Instead of controlling it with key frames, try using Time Remapping. Precomp the layer with the effects and use the Time Remapping to stop the effects from propogating where you want.
