Question

How to get position for null object to move with camera

I'm very new to AE. I was wanting to do a camera moving through my text. I parented the null object layer to the camera. Now, when I try to move the position of the null object, nothing moves. The sliders for the directions move, but nothing happens on screen. 3D is selected on my comp, text layers, and my null layer. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but I can't find an answer anywhere. All the tutorials I've watched, I never see an issue. They simply add the camera, add the null object, link them, and when they move the position, no issue. Any help would be super appreciated. Sorry if I didn't explain the best. I'll link a video as wellhttps://imgur.com/a/F2zhVOS

I ended up getting it! Looks like I turned 3d on for the wrong comp.

    Quick Fix

    Reverse the parenting:

    1. Select your Camera layer.
    2. In the timeline, grab the pick whip (spiral icon) in the Parent column next to the camera.
    3. Drag it and drop it onto your Null Object layer name.

Now the camera is parented to the null so moving the null will move the camera.

I thought I had done that. I just tried again making a new null object layer, pick whipped the camera to it, but now when I move the position, it's moving the text instead of the camera? https://imgur.com/a/IBZHDjD
