How to improve play back live preview in adobe after effects ?

Hi there.

I have to edit some several 4k video files; I encounter difficulties when I play back (space bar) to see live preview my editing, the sound and image are distorted and jerky;

I use adobe after effects cc 2019 and my machine configuration is:

Amd Ryzen 9 3950X (16 core 32 threads), 64GB ram 3200mhz, 1tb m.2 samsung 970, nvidia gtx 1060 6gb ram memory, 4k display monitor.

What should i do to have a decent live play?

I tried to change to Half, Third, Quarter the preview resolution, also I set to fast draft, but it's not a big difference ...

Do you think it would help if I upgrade my gpu with a better video card? something like RTX or Radeon RX?

I highly recommend that you use Premiere Pro for this project, everything indicates that there is some confusion regarding the use of Adobe applications as already mentioned by Nishu, make your editing in Premiere Pro and you will see how you will get a big ear smile to ear.
