Say in this video > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gul5Bey6P10

I wanted to replace the video clips from 0:19 - 0:38 with different video clips.

What would be the best way to go about doing that?

Motion Tracking using mocha or a 3D camera track. It's not an easy task as the elements within the shapes are moving and motion tracking algorithms do not like things that move since it confuses the algorithm into tracking the wrong thing - in this case, yu want to track the shape but the movement within the shape will throw off the tracking engine.

I would study the footage better, to see if mochaAE is a good candidate. However, because I'm lazy, I would just apply AE's Camera Tracker and see if it does the trick. If the Camera Tracker is able to solve the track and its Solve Error is under 2 then it's a good bet to go ahead with drawing the shapes. Of course, it is required that the Camera Tracker does provide good, solved tracks for the shape. I suspect this won't be the case for all of the shapes since there is some occasional overlap/occlusion.

So, be prepared for different procedures and even manual tracking at certain points.

Contact SBS, host broadcaster of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games who created the video, and ask for the project file.
