How to write better After Effects scripts - LIVE Event

PRO TIP for After Effects users using AI Assisted Coding tools - here's a short RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) you can use as part of your First Prompt or System Prompt to ensure your Coding Assistant writes compatible code -

Must be ECMA3-compliant (ExtendScript's engine) — no let/const, no arrow functions, no template literals, no array/object destructuring, etc.

Must work across all language versions of After Effects.

Use Scripting and Expression matchNames instead of localized display names wherever possible - this is critical for cross-language compatibility.

Must work on both macOS and Windows.
