Question

How would I create this moving rectangle behind each text without showing the rectangle block move

Hey! Was looking how I would go about replicating this visual of a voice chat. I've built the background block that highlights the word spoken but you can see it move from one position to another.  I created this but animating the 'size' of the rectangle and then attaching a null to it as it move from each position. How do I create this so that it just appears behind each word without seeing it move from/to each new position? Basically in the same way as source text works where each keyframe just happens and appears without seeing a transformation of it move each time

Video effect I'm trying to learn how to do: https://poly.ai/resources/?_resource_type=call-recording

I saw your post about an hour ago and it's been bugging me that it is not more simple.  I've gone down a rabbit hole but managed to create a comp set up that allows you to use a slider to move the text box behind the text, so you only have one parameter to adjust.

To get it to work, I used a text animator to control the scale of the words on a second text layer.  This then gave me the text layer's width, which was limited to a single word at any point in time.  It also gave me the word's position.

Not saying you should use it, but it seems to work for me and might make your project easier to animate.
