I can't right click anything in after effects

I've been having a problem for like two weeks now where I can't right click anything nor can I click on any of the options at the top like file, edit, view, etc. I also can't click any dropdown menus. When I click it, it doesn't pop up at all, and when I click a second time it pops up for half a second and immediately dissapears. This has made after effects pretty much useless lol as I can't precompose anything and thats a necessity for what I'm doing right now. I've restarted after effects mutliple times and it hasn't helped. This doesn't happen in any other program either. Has anyone else ever had this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?  I use a mac if that helps

Without any system info we can't tell you much, but I would second Andrew's suggestions. In particular if you use a custom input device like a gaming mouse or a tablet, updating drivers and checking configurations would be critical. anythings more will require soem actual info on what you are using and how it's configured.

Some places to start:

 

Restart the computer.

Remove any additional interface tools like Wacom tablets.

Disconnect all but the main monitor, if you have others attached.

Try a different keyboard and mouse, preferably wired.
