Hi, sorry to hear about the issue. A few things worth trying first:

1. Update your GPU driver from the manufacturer's site. Windows Update often has older drivers, so download directly from there.

2. Clear the media cache. Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache.

3. Try After Effects in Safe Mode with third-party plug-ins disabled: https://adobe.ly/4ypsAPO

If the black screen still happens after those, could you share:

1. Your exact After Effects version and your system specifications (CPU, RAM, OS version).

2. Your GPU model.

3. Does this happen with all projects, or only one specific project?
