I need help with this transition please!

Hi I recently came across this cool transition in Benjamin Ortega's video. It takes place at at time stamp 1:12 and makes it look like the new mountain shot, folds into the frame, sort of like a pop-up.

I assume this was done with using some 3D animation tools in AE but I really have no idea. I've looked online for help but really haven't found anything helpful. I have a similar clip that I would like to emulate this transition on, but have no idea where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't see anything "folding". This is a simple layer scaling animation with the sky (rather sloppily) having been keyed out and the layer fading in for like 5 frames. Trivial kindergarten stuff.

Sorry, I mean the way the mountains come into the frame, not the sky.

Yes. Nothing 3D here.  Looks like they started with some time lapse footage.  Where the mountains come on they separated the sky from the mountains and than just animated the scale and opacity to bring in the mountains than animated in the sky which could have been done a bunch of ways.   As for where to start...

either you start learning After Effects  After Effects tutorials | Learn how to use After Effects CC

Or you find someone willing to walk you step by step through the process.

Anyway you cut it's going to cost you some time and effort.

Whether it's learning After Effects or methodically skimming through every After Effects transition tutorial on the web until you find one that shows you want to learn.

If you're not willing invest 60 to 100 hours before you even begin then you should probably just hire someone to do it for and find a new hobby.  Sorry
