Illustrator File Not Importing in Properly

Hi so I orginal started here as I believe it is a illustrator problem at first but I'm being told its an import into After Effects issue

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to begin working on this project ASAP.

This is an issue only occuring recently as I used Illustrator to After Effects in early may for a project for one of college courses. 

Screenshoot is what my layer panel looks like in After Effects. The AI symbol is not by source name as usual and although I bring in the "separated AI file" it still shows the other artboards from the original AI file in the timeline.
