Question

Import AE sequence from one project to another

Good morning

I have two different AE projects. I would like to import one of the sequences from one project to another. Is there any way to import just one sequence instead of importing the whole project?

Thanks for your time

I assume you mean compositions, not sequences. You can import an AEP, an After Effects Project, into another project. This will give you a new folder in the Project Panel that contains everything from the imported project. You can then use what you need and delete the other projects.

If your AEP's are complex, sometimes it is best to select just the composition you want to import to another project, then use File>Dependencies>Collect files to create a new project that only contains the assets used in the comp you are trying to use in another project.

It is also a very good idea to learn how to create and use Animation Presets. If all you need in your new project is an animation on a single layer, then an animation preset can recreate it with the single click of a button.

I hope this helps.

Hi Rick and thanks for your time

Yes you were right, I was talking about comps. Well, yes, import all the project is an option, but sometimes it´s a mess when they are a big projects. Also I thought about collecting the comps needed from one project and then import them to the other.

But I was expecting some kind of way to import just one composition, as I would do if I´m using dynamic link between premiere and after.

Thanks  again Rick
