Import illustrator file

Hi guys,

I've a question in mind since a couple days now. I've searched on the web and I couldn't find a good answer.

Is there a way to import illustrator file and keep text editing but also convert every vector element to shapes ?

I've seen that I can convert my illustrator file into PSD to convert my text to editable text on AE, but with this way I cannot convert my vector to shapes.

I've seen that I can import my illustrator file directly into AE, but in this case I can only convert vector to shapes... Please don't tell me that I have to do both because this seems really ridiculous...

I mean, for motion designer like me I don't understand why there's not a simple way to import mockup into AE. Maybe there's a way, but I dont know it.

Someone can help me ?

Thank you in advance.

Answer is no. Editable text for Ai layers is not supported. you could ask for it in the Adobe wishform page.

workarounds:

1. You can copy paste text data between Ae and Ai. It will keep all the Character parameters.

2. Use Overload: Overlord — Battle Axe  it's a 3rd party extension that allows crossover from Ai to Ae and back. It Supports text (and much more). very impressive and a must have if you are doing a lot of Ai vectors->Ae vectors
