Question

imported frame.io comments not visible

So I import comments much like premiere but it creates a text layer as a guide but I cannot see any of the comment text. Is there a trick to getting this work?

The comments are stored in the markers. When you park your playhead exactly on top of a marker, do you see a comment in the Comp panel? Also, what happens if you hover your mouse over one of the markers? Alternatively, if you open the Frame.io extension and go to your video, you can see the comments in more detail and automatically jump around from one marker to the next. I find this method to be the easiest.

No, that is the thing I see nothing when I roll over the comments. Yeah I have been using that as a work around, opening the frame.io window in AE. I have tried importing them a few times and it is completely empty except for what you see in the screenshot. Weird right?

Apologies, you're right. It's actually really cool how Frame.io comments are imported. The first time I used them I went down the same rabbit hole you did. The secret is if you reveal the "Comments" column in the timeline. There's a "file ID" and a string of text that connects to Frame.io and it magically pulls the comments in. Keep in mind, the comments are on a text layer, so I would check the Properties panel to make sure the size, font, and color are something you can see. I finally got to a computer and confirmed that you should see the comments at the bottom-center of the Comp panel, but the Markers themselves should be empty.
