I am working with a project that has a control layer
When I import another project with another contlol layer
That causes a mess of expression errors in both projects
I tried to change name of the control layer but it doesn't work
Any help please?

Have the same problem. Multiple templates, when I try to add them in one project, they have the same "Control" named layer, and different effects from different comps call out for the "Control" Layer from "Control Comp".
So AE is confused as to what path to follow.
Tried to rename the comps in the templates separatly, but that breaks the expressions too.

Sooooo, I think I will have to edit them manually.
Have you found a fix to this? @nadam90306117

This is very likely an issue related to which Expression engine is being used - the Legacy ExtendScript or the newer Javascript.

Adobe has provided a script that updates Legacy Expressions so that they work within the stricter confines of Javascript. Go to File>Script>Run Script and go to the main AE Folder. Once there, look for the Scripts Sub-Folder to look for the script named, Update Legacy Expressions.jsx.

If that doesn't work, change the Expression Engine in the Project Settings dialog - click on the Rocket icon in the Project Panel. Or CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+K to get there.

Without any specific info about the actual naming, the project structure and ultimately how the expression code references the controllers nobody can advise.
