Hi, Im trying to find a tutorial video on how to import an image you made on photoshop as a mask to mask over something in a video in after effects. I did this actually before but i dont recall so I need a tutorial video to remind me visually what I did but iv only found videos on how to mask which i already am familar with. If so one can tell me how i could word what kind of exact masking video tutorial to search online that would be helpful! or someone could even just visually tell me the steps on here im good with either!

Do you want a mask (paths)?

Or just a masked image (TRACK MATTE)?

Tutorials on Track Mattes (like animated layer masks in Ps) is probably where you want to be.

- You can use the Transparency (Alpha) or the Luminance of your psd layers

Shapes or layers made with pen tool in PS will bring across the mask shapes that create them, but the layer's transparency is baked with the mask too. It is one way to import your PS paths/splines and use them as AE Mask Shapes (or shape layers).
