Question

Increase resolution on 3d comp without breaking the camera move

I have a 1280 comp with a moving camera, a moving light, and a placed image in 3d mode. I need to scale up the comp to 3840 but when I do the framing gets totally messed up. I have tried the scalecomp and recursivescalecomp scripts and they dont work.

Seems like a simple problem and I've seen it asked before without any workable solutions. Any help much apprecieated.

Yes, it's a common thing, but you likely simply did something wrong or there's a specific issue with your scene. Since you didn't do as requested and instead of providing screenshots uploaded a project, which I can't view on my tablet (Internet outage, so I have to use mobile) we can't tell you more than that. Anyway, since you figured it out the hard way it's probably moot.

Try File/Scripts/Scale Composition. If there are nested comps (Pre-comps), you'll also have to run the script on the nested comps.

There are also a couple of efficient scripts at aescripts.com that automate the process when you have nested compositions.

Without some actual screenshots and a better explanation nobody can tell you much. Just saying that the framing is messed up tells us nothing.

Attached is a test project. The scaled comp was made by parenting elements to a 1280 solid, scaling the comp, and then scaling the solid to the new comp size. I also tried to create a new camera and paste the keyframes from the old one, but none of that worked.
