Question

Is there a way to generate a waveform halfway down a line?

Hey, I'm using generate > audio waveform.

I'd really like the waveform to start about halfway into a flat line.

Is there a way to manipulate the waveform, or to draw a line and dictate where the waveform begins, so it flatlines at the beginning or end?

THanks!

I think you'd have to fake this using a shape layer line for the first part, then setting the audio spectrum or waveform effect's start to the end of the line.

Good idea, but the start of the audio waveform jumps all over the place and doesn't align with the shape layer line!

I'm not sure if I'm following your question correctly but maybe you could create a 2nd audio track which is silent at the beginning and end but has the original audio where you like it. You can use the audio waveform effect to your modified audio track (muted) while playing the original track. I hope that this is close to what you're asking.

This is a cool idea. I just tried it, but unfortunately, the issue is that the AE's generate waveform effect creates a waveform basically attached to a solid. So it cuts off where the solid cuts off and it won't line up with the flat waveform. But maybe there's a way to mess with the solid or attach it to something else?
