Question

Is there a way to reshape human bodies in After Effects?

Hello,

I just downloaded a free trial of After Effects.  I don't know anything about it, but want to try it out.

One question: Is it possible to reshape human bodies, like make the slimmer,, taller, etc.?

If yes, can you point me to maybe a YouTube or other video about it?

Thank you!

For a few music videos, I've had pretty good luck with Mesh Warp; however, it can drive up render times.  Also, I've found it only to be effective if the camera is locked down and the actor is not moving much.

there is a liquify effect in Ae that works in similar way to photoshops liquify (btw you can import a video to photoshop and try the liquify on it - you won't be able to animate it but the effect itself is very impressive). of course when dealing with video, that task is much more complicated then a still image. but if it's just for an rough effect - it can be done. it really depends what the exact result you are hoping to achieve. for more advanced morphing try a Revision plugin called Re:Flex RE:Flex - RE:Vision Effects

    Hello,

    Thanks for your response.

Yeah, I tried making body changes on this video in Photoshop with the Liquify tool, but like you said, it's not animated.  So pointless.  lol

So then I will try to do in AE.  The morphing I want to do should be difficult.  It's to make someone a bit slimmer.

    Thanks again!

If you are new to AE you will need to spend at least a couple of hours here: Basic AE

After Effects is about 1000 X more complicated than Photoshop and you'll need to become familiar with the principals of compositing, keyframes and the UI to avoid wasting time. A couple of hours going over the basics will save you days of fooling around.
