Question

Is there anything that allows you to display Ae onto an external device (not just preview)?

I'm doing a projection-mapped piece, and it would be great if I could project the Ae screen onto my 3D objects while I work in order to create custom content that fits the shapes.  I know that Mercury Transmit allows you to preview videos to an external source, but I need the screen to be visible while I work and not just during playback, as well as my cursor and other screen information.  Is there any settings in the software that allows this to happen?

    Yes... there is...

    1. Edit >Preferences>Video Preview>Enable Mercury Transmit

    2. Select the monitor device you wish to preview on (your projector)

    Boom...Mic drop!

Use a (passive or active) signal splitter for your monitor cable and feed the second output to a projector.

hmm, that sounds kind of complicated. I will certainly look into this, though. I'm on a MacBook and there is no monitor cable, and I'm using air display for a projector that's out of reach (so can't plug anything into it).   Are there any alternatives to this method? Thank you for your answer, by the way.

Work on a machine other than a laptop?  Something designed to output more than a single video stream?
