issue importing images as a sequence in Premiere /AE CC2019

Hello, when I try to import Timelapse jpeg images as a sequence both in After Effects and in Première -( I did check the sequence box and the alphabetical order box) - only the first image is imported.

I have previosly imported the raw images in Lightroom to color correct them and exported them from Lightroom as jpeg.

I also renamed the images in Bridge to ensure they are named sequentially

I am currently traveling and working on my small travel PC Which is a Microsoft Surface Book with the Following parameters:

Processor : Intel Core I-7 8650U CPU @1.90 2.11 GHz

RAM: 16 Go

System 64 bits

Windows 10 Professional

Graphic card Nvidia GeForce GTX1050

Any help to achieve import sequence is most welcome

Hi there,

I understand your concern. Usually, the issue with importing image sequence occurs when the image files are not arranged in a sequence. File names for image sequences need to be the same followed by a number is sequental order like 20190425 is supposed to be followed by a file that begins with 20140426. I can see that you've made sure that the files are arranges sequentially. Thanks for sharing the system details. I would like to know a few more things:

Has it worked fine before?
Does it happen with specific set of images?
What is the source(camera) of these files?
Where have you saved them?

Also, it could be just an issue with the application's preferences. I would recommend you to try resetting the preferences which will make the settings default.

I've had trouble with this feature as well - if the file names aren't rigorously sequential, even checking the "Force Alphabetical Order" box doesn't always work. I use Photomatix Pro to process bracketed HDR sequences, and they come out numbered things like:

D7F3429_29_30_31_32.tif

D7F3343_34_35_35_37.tif

...etc.

Media Encoder will import the sequence seemingly OK, but the output will all be of just the first frame.

If it isn't going to process it correctly, it should at least give a warning or fail to import.

It is dangerous to give the impression that it is working correctly when it is not.

I was able to open the sequence in AE after renaming sequentially the images with Bridge.

the images were initially exported from Lightroom.

The strange thing is that this import did not work immediately. Actually it failed a couple of times with the renamed filed. Then it worked and I don’t understand why. In the import box it was saying “ sequence not available” and then suddenly after I clicked on the folder again and on the mother folder as well, it became available. A midterm to me. In any case now the sequence is imported.

It sounds like you missed the import as a sequence checkbox. The other option is that the file names could contain characters that foul up the sequence. As far as I know, the bugs importing image sequences have all been fixed.
