Issues with IDentifier Plugin, Object ID with EXR files
Hi there,
I've been using the EXtractoR plugin for AfterEffects for quite some time, and it's always worked great. This is using CC2018 BTW.
I am now using AfterEffects for some work that needs ObjectID's and I am having a really hard time getting them to work.
I must be doing something wrong, but I feel like I've tried every avenue, so now I'm here asking for assistance.
So, I have the ObjectID channel in my EXR files, the EXtractoR plugin finds them, and they appear to me to be Integer values when I move the mouse over them in the viewport... and they work fine in Fusion... but don't work in AE. The IDentifier plugin just states "No Suitable Integer Channels Available".
One thing I noticed was when I move the mouse over the image in the viewer, the RGB values are "1.0000" or 4.0000" So they seem to me to have the decimal 0s at the end rather than a true Integer, but I'm surprised that makes a difference.
My next step was to create an 'OpenEXR_Channel_Map.txt' file and make sure that I mapped my ObjectID channel to the OBID in AfterEffects, then restart AE. This doesn't seem to make any difference. I have renamed my ObjectID channel in my 3d Application to OBID, presuming this is the default and it still doesn't seem to find the channels. I don't really know exactly where to place this file, so have placed it in the root of the OpenEXR loader plugin.
How can I get AE to see my ObjectID passes, or even manipulate the Pass that I can extract, and turn it into something that the IDentifier tool might be able to utilise?
Any help would be amazing, thanks!
Tim
