Large blocky artifacts when rendering with pixel motion blur, none when previewing in AE

I have an image sequence that I'm rendering with pixel motion blur and it looks fine when I preview in AE but I get large, black blocky artifacts in the renders.  If I disable the motion blur there are no artifacts in the render.  The behavior is the same in 2023 and 2024 versions of both AE and media encoder.  I have also tried both hardware and software renders.

 

Any suggestions?

    That's not ideal.

    Could you share screenshots that show the problem? Also, a screenshot of the export settings? Are you using the After Effects render queue or Media Encoder to export?
