Layer not updating in composition, but can see the layer controls

So in After Effects I'm trying to move a layer but the change doesn't show up in the composition. The layer stays where it is, but the layer controls and anchor points move to show where im dragging it. If i save and reopen the project it shows the footage in the new position. But you can't see the changes on the screen when you actually make them. If i try to do anything again the same thing happens. 

Opacity is on 100%.

View is on Active camera.

No layers are isolated. 

Help!

I've updated the progoram and the problem is still there so could it be a setting i've changed?
