Laying Brick Effect

Trying to Figure Out How to Make this Effect Occur for a Project I've Been Working on for Months.

I Know You Can Use Shatter to Make Bricks, but I need to make this seem like they are being laid rather than shattered.

How might I acheive this effect?

Masks?

Something Else?

ENORMOUS THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO MAY BE ABLE TO SOLVE THIS!!!

You can use a Gradient to control how shatter breaks up a layer. Once you get the layer to break apart the way you want, pre-compose everything or nest your shattered comp in a new comp and then time remap the nested comp to make the particles assemble themselves instead of break apart.

You will be much better off using Card Dance to build your wall of bricks. You have a lot more control over how things work. Divide the layer into rows and columns, then animate a gradient to make the pieces assemble themselves. No time remapping required and a lot more control. I didn't find a specific tutorial on laying bricks, but maybe this one will get you started. It's fair.

Cool!

I just finished the video and pulled up the effects panels after adding Card Dance to my layer of bricks.

How would I go about visually viewing row and columns being adjusted as I scroll through various possible row and column values?

Is there any need for Mosaic Effect at all if I use the Card Dance Effect?

Thank you so much!

Meanwhile, I am going to be studying more about gradients.

Warm regards,
