Left & Right Sides of Paragraph

Thanks for the question! This usually happens because paragraph alignment in After Effects is controlled by the anchor point, not the composition.

For example, left align keeps the left edge of the text fixed to the anchor point (so the text extends to the right), and right align does the opposite. If your anchor point is on the “wrong” side, it can feel like things are reversed.

Try moving the anchor point to the left side of the comp and it should behave as expected.
