Linking CSV to text. AE can't recognize diacritics.

Translating between languages and have my translations in a CSV. Linking works fine, as does my expressions to swap between them on my control layer.

My problem is AE can't seem to recognize diacritic marks in specific words and then doesn't display any more of the words.

For example:

Más ventas displays as "M" (stops at the accent)

mehr Verkäufe displays as "mehr Verk" (stops at the umlaut).

Changing the font doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Is the file containing your data UTF-8 encoded?  That will likely be necessary for AE to read all of those characters.

Thank so much 🙂 Used google sheets to download the CSV instead of MS Excel and it worked due to UTF-8. Thanks again!

Glad it helped!

BTW, you can connect AE directly to a live Google Sheet with Templater from Dataclay.

Youxwouldnt have to do any file management at all.  It "just works" 😄
