Question

Locally installed font will go missing and stop working.

I keep running into this issue with various locally installed fonts.  Sometimes they'll stop showing up in the Character panel while working.  I'll look at other type layers that are using that font and they appear fine, but when I try to change them, they'll never go back.  

Those other type layers just show as blank in the character panel.  The issue only fixes itself if I restart my computer, but this has been happening consistenly with multiple font files.

What do I do? reinstalling the fonts don't work.  It all seems to be AE 2020.

I've even had software crash when trying to select the font again.

Thanks for writing in.

Are they doing the same in all the apps or it's just After Effects? Have you tried contacting the font manufacturers? You could try clearing the font cache.

Thanks so much for getting back.

It is only in after effects that the font is not showing up.  I have not reached out to the Font Provider as this has happened with multiple different font families.

I can try to reach out the the makers of Moderat and Sofia Pro but that seems unecessary as they are very well crafted font family that I don't think is the issue.

I turned off Adobe Cloud's typekit because that would automatically load Sofia Pro as though I was using it in typekit when I had deactivated it and downloaded/installed locally.

Currently I've reinstalled the font families, restarted, cleared the font cache in Windows 10, and still Sofia Pro Light is the only typeface showing up.  I have the entire family installed.

I took these two screenshots within seconds of each other.  The other weights of Sofia Pro will show up, and then when I select "Bold", nothing happens.

Then, "Light" weight is the only option available.
