Lower-third graphic MOGRT conundrum

Hello everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm making a lower-third graphic MOGRT and I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to animate the way I want.

What I want is two white boxes, one for name and one for titles, that expand to their full size starting from the left hand side. I want them to pause for however long you need, and then retract towards the right hand side where they dissappear. I'm working with locked areas for the in and out animation leaving the middle free, and I have been playing around with different expressions to make the boxes fit the length of the name and title. Ideally I also want to add a fade in and movement to the text as the box expands.

I was originally using a mask on the text and shape layer to get the movement exactly how I wanted, but immediately had trouble once I moved the MOGRT into Premiere. I have been playing around with different solutions, but my main issues still seem to be that the boxes don't want to expand beyond their original size to accommodate longer names or titles, and that they occasionally move around.

I have made lower-thirds similar to this in the past, but never using two separate boxes for the name and title. My main question is, is this even possible to do? And if yes, how do I do it?

It might help to see what you have now as well as your project file. How do you have your masks set up? And are the expressions you're using to resize the text/shapes also set up to resize the masks themselves?

Thanks for your reply! I've attached the project file here, if you would have a look that would be great! I've used expressions on the masks as well in the comp where I masked out the motion. This one looks exactly how I want it to look, it just doesn't adapt to longer names or titles. In my other comp where I've just tried to animate the motion, I'm not happy with the movement yet but am struggling to think of ways around it.

Thanks for sharing the project. There are quite a few issues here. First, your anchor point positions are inconsistent. Some layers are left aligned while some are center aligned. For something like this you want every anchor point consistent across all layers. If the animation starts from left to right (as yours does), all anchor points should be aligned to the left edge of each layer. Your text, for example, is currently Center aligned, so when more text is added it is expanding the text from the center outward, equally left and right. This conflicts with your boxes, which are aligned left and can only expand to the right.

Additionally, you've keyframed the Scale of your Shape Layer Matte so that it goes from 0-50. The actual text box itself is expanding underneath the Matte, but you can't see it because the Matte itself isn't readjusting its scale so whatever the matte is being applied to can only be as large as the matte itself.

It may be easier to start from scratch as changing anchor points at this stage will be a pain. If you start again and make sure you anchor align everything left before doing any keyframes or expressions, things will be a lot easier to manage.
