Masks in After Effects

Hello, I do not know how to explain what I want, but this is the idea:


Use Keylight to remove the green background of the frame, this will leave the object whatever that is
now, how can I create a mask on the object so I can use the mask on something else like saber for example.

Normally on Photoshop you invert the selection, but you can see the mask and reversed, so something like that.

A green screen with an object and use keylight or any other tool to create a mask around the object, that

I can use in something else...

    I know how to do that, was looking for something easy based on the color as I indicated above.

    If you want to select something based on color, you can use chroma keying or the Roto Brush. However, if it's a still image, it's still better to do that in Photoshop in many cases.

    Thanks Szalam, but look at the photo and look at Mylenium post.
    We not talking removing a color or make anything transparent.

    All I want is a mask around the object, person, or whatever that is.

    I found a MagicWang Script for After Effect but there is not much info

    on what you can do with it, just select and replace a color, and that's no

    what we talking about, look at the photo, the tree is masked but no

    color has been replaced or planing to replace.

    Here is a picture I did with photoshop, with the Magic Wang you click on the black

    then REVERSE the mask and you can see the tree is masked from top to bottom.

    How can I do something like that "Mask that Tree" on After Effects

    so I can apply an effect to the Mask?

    I get confuse becouse you can pickup something and make it transparent

    but I dont need to do that what I need is a mask around the object

    I'm not sure exactly what you mean about using the mask for something else.  Can you explain further?

    Usually, if you are keying out an object on green screen, you mask out around the object, normally because the green screen does not fill the screen.  So, you do a garbage matte, loosely around and when you key, you have a completely clean background.

    So, what are you then trying to do with this mask?
